Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks are now possibilities from eastern Missouri through southwest, central, and eastern Illinois, and into western and central Indiana. The greatest threat to corn will be in earliest planted fields that are established/emerged. Given the heavy to excessive rainfall observed in many areas so far this spring, corn rootworm hatch date and pressure may be quite varied from one field to another, with well-drained or higher elevation fields favored for greater pressure. Growers that were able to plant early should actively scout and dig up roots to determine if corn rootworm larvae are present especially in or near the risk area.
