Alert Details

A couple of weather systems moving through the corn-growing region over the next week will bring Low black cutworm migration risks with them. Both of these systems are northwest flow origin systems, so any period of southerly wind in advance of a trailing cold front is expected to be brief and will likely limit the overall migration threat due to the short duration of southerly winds. Low risks are in place tonight into tomorrow from far eastern Kansas and Missouri northeast into eastern Iowa, far southeast Minnesota, and east as far as lower Michigan and western Ohio as the first system moves through. A break is then anticipated for the remainder of the weekend, but Low risks are back in the forecast by Monday night into Tuesday as the next system develops and drops down into the northern corn-growing region. Low risks envelop much of the area especially from I-29 east early-mid next week.
