Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid development risks remain in the Moderate category for the next week with a larger portions of the northern soybean-growing area included in the risk this week. Moderate risks stretch from eastern South Dakota into Minnesota, northern Iowa, and further east into Wisconsin this week with Low risks from the central/eastern Dakotas into northeast Nebraska, central/northern Iowa, the remainder of Minnesota, and across much of Wisconsin. More favorable temperatures and less precipitation in the next week may spell population increases in some areas, so growers are encouraged to continue scouting fields that are at or prior to the R5-R5.5 growth stage if located in or near the risk areas. Soybean aphid counts are likely to vary even across adjacent fields so any decisions to apply treatments should be based on field-specific observations.
