Alert Details

Low corn earworm migration risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow across portions of Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri as a fairly narrow corridor of south to southwest winds blows into portions of these states to the east of a cold front. Corn earworms may migrate from southern source regions during this time. Low risks continue in the forecast tomorrow night into Saturday as the cold front moves east, with risks focusing from eastern Kansas and Missouri east into Illinois, Indiana, far southern lower Michigan, Kentucky, and far western Ohio. The risk has been reduced spatially on the northern and eastern edges from previous forecasts this week due to stronger high pressure anticipated to the north in Canada, but risks remain in place in the same states as before. The primary concern is with fresh market and produce crops but on a fairly isolated basis as this is not expected to be a major weather event with stronger southerly winds. Little to no migration risk is predicted after Saturday.
