Corn Earworm
Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast late this week and into the early part of the weekend as a low pressure system churns over the northern Plains states and high pressure anchors over the eastern Great Lakes region. In between these two pressure centers, southerly winds are expected and may lead to some shorter-distance isolated corn earworm moth flights. Low risks extend from eastern Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota as far east as southwestern lower Michigan and northern Indiana Friday and Saturday mornings. Of greatest concern at this point in the growing season is fresh market and processing growers, as well as later planted gardens, and these growers should continue trapping and scouting efforts until harvest is complete or the threat passes based on crop stage.
