Alert Details

Initial corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to spread north in response to increasing heat unit accumulations and warmer days. Hatches should continue to be scattered in nature, however, given recent heavy rains in the risk area so the overall risk level is being kept in the Moderate category for now. Moderate risks extend from southern and eastern Kansas east into Missouri, far southeast Iowa, central Illinois, much of central and northern Indiana, and into Ohio. Growers in and near the risk area should consider monitoring more advanced corn and soybean fields and also prepare to dig up roots in the next several weeks to determine if corn rootworm populations are present and take appropriate action where warranted.
