Corn Earworm
Corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast on a nightly basis right into early next week. Southerly to southwesterly winds and increasing heat and humidity may lead to at least isolated, if not scattered, corn earworm moth flights during this time. Low risks are in place tonight into tomorrow from the Plains states as far east as the I-69 corridor in lower Michigan, Indiana, and western Kentucky. Moderate risks are in the forecast both tomorrow night into Sunday and again Sunday night into Monday for fields in southern Minnesota, much of Iowa, northern and central Illinois, and into southern Wisconsin. More isolated flights may occur both west and east of the Moderate risk area, so growers across virtually the whole of the corn-growing region should monitor traps and scout fields as some new corn earworm moth flights are anticipated over the next several days.
