Alert Details

Growers across much of the corn-growing region should continue to be on the lookout for corn rootworms especially in fields along and north of I-80. Scattered reports of corn rootworm damage and high beetle counts continue to come in especially in fields where the corn is still at a susceptible stage to damage. Even further south where the crop is further along and the yield is not necessarily at risk, beetle counts should continue to be monitored and where necessary, treated as problems this time of year may result in issues in 2014. Fields from northeast Colorado into northern Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, northern and central Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, northern and central Indiana and Ohio, and southwest Ontario, Canada all should continue to be checked and action taken, if needed.
