Low corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast the next couple of nights as a low pressure system and associated cold front move east through the corn-growing region. Southerly winds in advance of the cold frontal passage, as well as potential scattered to widespread precipitation along and ahead of the front, may combine to lead to isolated moth flights especially between I-35 and I-57 to the south of I-90 tonight, or from eastern Kansas and Nebraska east into Illinois, and south of southern Minnesota and Wisconsin. The risk shifts east tomorrow night as the front moves east, and includes fields mainly east of I-55 in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, southern Michigan, and southern Ontario, Canada. Growers should be on the lookout for new moths as some early season flights have already occurred this month, especially into the eastern corn-growing region.
