Alert Details

Northwest flow is predicted to dominate the weather across much of the corn-growing region through this week. As a result, no corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast. By next weekend, however, high pressure does begin to inch off to the east and should allow some return southerly flow especially across the Plains and western/upper Midwest to the east of a developing low pressure system in the northern Plains. As a result, Low corn earworm migration risks are warranted from Kansas and Missouri northeast into Nebraska, eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Iowa, and into far western Wisconsin by Saturday night into Sunday morning. The development and strength of this system will be monitored closely in the coming days as many crops are at susceptible stages to damage especially in the upper Midwest.
