Corn Earworm
An active weather pattern is predicted to continue across a large portion of the corn-growing region in the next week. As a result, corn earworm migration risks are in the forecast virtually every night into the holiday weekend. The risk level, however, is kept in the Low category as there is no or very limited threat to crops at this point in the growing season. Some of these early moth flights, however, could result in additional generations later this summer that could cause damage to crops by that point. Low risks are in the forecast mainly southeast of a Topeka, Kansas to Milwaukee, Wisconsin line tonight into tomorrow morning, and then south of I-90 and west of I-39 tomorrow night into Friday morning. By the weekend, the risk area shifts east as a cold front slowly pushes southeast by that time. The risk area lies primarily east of I-35 and into the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region by that time.
