Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm development risks will continue through the period especially across the southwestern portion of the corn-growing region where heat unit accumulations are the highest. In north-central Kansas east southeast into western Missouri, heat unit thresholds have reached or exceeded 25% emergence thresholds and Moderate western bean cutworm development risks continue in this area through the period. A slow migration to the north into southeast Nebraska and eventually southwest Iowa is predicted through the next five days as heat unit accumulations increase but at a slower pace compared to the past five days. By the extended period, development risks also expand east across northern Missouri, southern Iowa, and into western Illinois as 25% emergence thresholds are met in these areas as well.
