Black Cutworm
Low black cutworm migration risks remain in the forecast tonight into tomorrow morning all the way from eastern Texas and Louisiana northeast into eastern Oklahoma and Kansas, central/southern Missouri, southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky and Tennessee, Arkansas, and northwest Mississippi as a rather potent low pressure system moves through the Midwest. Southwest winds are predicted south of a warm front to the east of the low pressure, and these winds are predicted to be strong enough that there may be some migrants that make it all the way from southern Texas northeast into the Ohio River valley overnight tonight into tomorrow morning. Otherwise, no additional migration risks are in the forecast at this time. Any growers with very early planted corn fields in the risk area could see potential cutworm issues once enough heat units accumulate and corn emerges in a few weeks.
