Black Cutworm
No risk of black cutworm migration is predicted in the next five days. There may be a flight ongoing at the time of this forecast issuance especially across portions of eastern Texas ahead of a strong and slow-moving low pressure moving across Texas, but rainfall and better south flow off the Gulf of Mexico versus from south Texas/northeast Mexico will become predominant the next few days. As a result, no further risks are in the forecast. Growers who have already planted corn across east Texas, however, should monitor for potential isolated black cutworm issues once enough heat units accumulate in the next several weeks as corn emerges/grows.
