Alert Details

Corn earworm migration risks will be on the increase over the next several days as the weather pattern changes from one of cooler and drier to warmer and more humid. There are still some uncertainties in just how things will play out in terms of precipitation and with a series of cold fronts especially heading into the weekend and early next week, but nightly migration risks are in the forecast with greatest concerns west of the Great Lakes. Low risks are predicted tonight into tomorrow generally west of the I-35 corridor, with the risk then spreading east to near Lake Michigan and the I-57 corridor in eastern Illinois by tomorrow night into Friday. Over the weekend, Low risks continue mainly in a corridor focused on either side of I-35 and eventually as far east as into southern lower Michigan, Indiana, and western Kentucky, but it still appears that the greater risk will stay west of Lake Michigan during this time. Growers with crops at susceptible stages to corn earworm damage, especially fresh market and produce growers at this point in the growing season, should be prepared for at least some moth flight potential especially by the weekend.
