Alert Details

A cold front is expected to continue to move through the corn-growing region over the next few days. Weak south to southwest winds east of the front may lead to some isolated corn earworm migration possibilities tonight into tomorrow from Kansas, eastern Nebraska, and far southeastern South Dakota as far east as southwest lower Michigan, Indiana, and western Kentucky. Low risks continue in the forecast tomorrow night into Friday mainly across the southern Great Lakes and eastern corn-growing region, mainly east of I-55, as the front continues southeast. Little to no risk is anticipated over the weekend and into early next week as winds go northwesterly. Processing and fresh market growers should continue monitoring traps and scouting fields until harvest or the threat has passed.
