Alert Details

A persistent weather pattern featuring low pressure in southern Canada or the northern Rockies in the United States, high pressure in the northeastern United States, and also newly-developed tropical cyclone 8 off the southeast United States coast will lead to continued isolated corn earworm migration risks into especially the western portion of the corn-growing region this week. Migration risks are expected to focus west of the Great Lakes through the week as high pressure actually looks to retrograde, or move west or southwest, by later in the week. Low risks are initially found west of I-35 tonight into tomorrow before shifting to near the Mississippi River by tomorrow night into Wednesday. Later in the week, Low risks could move east to near Lake Michigan but they re-focus back in the Plains states and western corn-growing region by the weekend. Processing and fresh market growers should continue to monitor traps and scout fields until harvest.
