Corn Earworm
Low corn earworm migration risks remain in the extended portion of the forecast from Saturday night into Sunday and again Sunday night into Monday morning as a cold front works its way southeast through the corn-growing region. This front will likely interact with Hurricane Irma by early-mid week next week across the eastern corn-growing region. South to southwest winds ahead of the front may lead to some isolated corn earworm moth flights especially along and west of I-35 this weekend into early next week. Processors and fresh-market growers should continue to monitor traps and scout fields where fresh silks and other plants susceptible to damage are still present.
