Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle population risks continue in the forecast for the next week, although we are beginning to see less concern in some areas especially where crops are more advanced in the central and southern fields of the corn-growing region. Nonetheless, High risks remain in the forecast from northeast Colorado into northwest Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, northern Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks for more scattered potential issues or population observance are found from Kansas into Missouri, southern Iowa, central and southern Illinois, and central and southern Indiana and Ohio. The overall risk should decrease more markedly in most areas in the next few weeks, but growers are still encouraged to scout fields as beetle populations should be noted now as it may affect planting intentions for next year even if counts do not reach threshold values.
