Alert Details

Corn rootworm risks remain in the High category for the more intensive acreage areas of the corn-growing region from Kansas into Nebraska, eastern Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks continue from eastern Colorado north into western Nebraska, central Dakotas, and further east in less intensive acreage near the Great Lakes and further east into southeastern Ontario, Canada. Increasing beetle populations will be the primary concern from this point forward, and growers should monitor fields closely not only for this year’s crop but in areas where beetle populations are high, a potential change in planting intentions or soil treatments may be needed to prevent problems to next year’s crop.
