Alert Details

High corn rootworm beetle risks continue in the forecast for the next week especially along and north of the I-80 corridor as more and more of the corn crop south of this interstate is advancing past critical growth stages where corn rootworms are of any concern either for this or next growing season. Moderate risks continue south of this area for later planted and much more scattered issues at this point in the growing season. High risks are in the forecast across portions of Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada with Moderate risks in the fringe and more advanced acreage in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, central and southern Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, and also in the central Dakotas and east into portions of the Great Lakes. Growers should continue scouting efforts to determine beetle populations especially in the northern corn-growing region but the overall threat will begin to wane for this growing season in the next week or so, and further risk reductions are anticipated in the next few weeks.
