Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatch will continue across a large portion of the corn-growing region in the next week. Some beetle emergence is also likely to either commence or continue especially in fields along and south of I-80 from Nebraska and Kansas east into Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Corn rootworm hatch will be possible this week in fields as far north as northeast South Dakota, southeast North Dakota, central and northwest Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, central and northern lower Michigan, and also into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers all across the corn-growing region are urged to monitor both their corn and soybean fields by digging up some roots and assessing larvae populations present. Additionally, in fields especially along and south of I-80, growers should begin checking fields for beetle populations in the coming week.
