Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatch is predicted to continue across a good portion of the corn-growing region throughout the next week and into next weekend, with additional hatches possible further north into the northern Plains, upper Midwest, and Great Lakes region. Corn rootworm hatch is predicted to continue across eastern Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, northern Missouri, Iowa, eastern South Dakota, central and southern Minnesota and Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, central and southern lower Michigan, Ohio, and into southwest Ontario, Canada. Additional hatches will be possible later this week across northeast South Dakota, southeast and eastern North Dakota, northwest into east central Minnesota, portions of northern Wisconsin, and northern lower Michigan. Growers should not only look for new larvae and potential damage in corn fields but also dig up volunteer corn plants in soybean fields and assess larvae populations in those fields as well.
