Alert Details

Scattered corn rootworm beetle populations may continue to meet or exceed threshold populations in the next week especially across the northern corn-growing region. Moderate risks are predicted in this region as well as slightly further south to near the I-80 corridor simply to provide growers with an awareness that beetle populations should continue to be monitored for potential adjustments to next year’s planting rotation and/or decision-making. Fields from Nebraska into the Dakotas, Minnesota, northern/central Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, far northern Indiana and Ohio, and east into lower Michigan as well as southern Ontario, Canada should continue monitoring beetle populations although again, the primary concern is across the northern corn-growing region (mainly north of I-90 and west of Lake Michigan) for the next week or so based on crop stage/growth.
