Soybean Aphid
Moderate soybean aphid risks continue across the eastern Dakotas, much of Minnesota, far northern Iowa, and into far western Wisconsin with Low risks from the central Dakotas and northeast Nebraska east into mainly northern Iowa, far northwest Illinois, much of Wisconsin not already included in the Moderate risk, lower Michigan, and east into southern Ontario, Canada. Some fields are advancing past critical growth stages for soybean aphids to be an issue, but we are holding on to Moderate risks given some later or re-planted fields especially in the eastern Dakotas and Minnesota that may be lagging. Growers with fields at or prior to R5.5 or R6 growth stage should continue regular scouting until this growth stage is surpassed as little yield impact from soybean aphid damage is found after this stage. Any later-season treatment decisions should be made based on crop stage and at the field level as soybean aphid populations can and do vary considerably even in adjacent fields. These risks will likely be reduced in the next week or so as most of the crop advances past critical growth stages.
