Alert Details

Soybean aphid egg hatch is expected to only slowly push north into the upper Midwest and southern Great Lakes region as largely cool, wet, and cloudy weather should persist for much of the week. Egg hatches will be possible from eastern and southeast South Dakota into northeast and north central Nebraska, northern half of Iowa, southern Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, southern lower Michigan, southwest Ontario, Canada, northern Indiana, and northern Ohio. Growers are advised that virtually all insect populations, including soybean aphids, are having a difficult time so far this spring, either due to a rough, cold winter and also a lack of planting/field activity and favorable hosts. Any initial soybean aphid populations are likely very limited in most areas where egg hatch has occurred.
