Western Bean Cutworm
Low western bean cutworm development risks have been introduced to the forecast this week with the anticipation that both crop stage in more advanced areas as well as the first real increase or presence of moths may coincide in the usual hot spots for this particular insect in the next week or so (northern Kansas into southern Nebraska as well as central/northern Indiana, far eastern Illinois, northwest Ohio, and southern lower Michigan). Growers in these areas are encouraged to begin scouting and trapping efforts (if not already) and be prepared for increased moth flights in the coming weeks as the annual moth flight commences.
