Western Bean Cutworm
The annual western bean cutworm moth flight continued to wind down, with the primary lingering concerns for this growing season now focused in southeastern Canada as much of the crop in the United States is now past critical growth stages and/or also where the flight and egg-laying has now subsided for this growing season. Moderate risks focus across southeastern Ontario into Quebec provinces in Canada, with lingering Low risks in the central Plains, northern Wisconsin, and into central and eastern lower Michigan. We anticipate that most United States risks will be removed from the forecast by next week, with only isolated lingering concerns in Canada, as well, as we move into the first week of September.
