Alert Details

Western bean cutworm peak flight is expected to continue across portions of the eastern corn-growing region and into the northeast United States and adjacent sections of southern Canada. High risks remain from far southeast Michigan into northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania/New York and Ontario/southwest Quebec, Canada where trap counts and field reports continue to indicate higher counts and egg deposition. Moderate risks remain in Wisconsin and in fields outside of the High risk area across portions of the eastern Midwest and eastern Great Lakes region. Growers especially across the High risk area are urged to monitor their fields for not only the presence of moths but also any egg deposition and new larvae especially in fields that are at susceptible stages to damage from western bean cutworm.
