Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworms will continue to cause potential problems across portions of the corn-growing region in the next week. High risks remain across portions of Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, far southeast Minnesota, and western, southern, and central Wisconsin where peak flight continues. Additional High risk areas are found in Michigan southeast into southern Ontario, Canada where moth captures, at least on a scattered basis, have shown higher numbers and also where some egg laying has been observed. Moderate risks cover portions of Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ontario Canada. Growers especially in the High risk areas and on sandier soils should monitor their fields and take appropriate action if needed.
