Alert Details

Western bean cutworm risks continue especially across portions of the central and northern corn-growing region where peak flight is either continuing or beginning to subside. High risks remain from central Nebraska northeast into northern and central Iowa, southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota, and central and northern Wisconsin. Additionally, fields in northern and central lower Michigan and southeast into southern Ontario, Canada are all still in the High risk. Moderate risks continue from Nebraska into South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, far northern Indiana, northern Ohio, northwest Pennsylvania, northwest New York, and southern Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada. At the present time, greatest pressure from this insect appears to be in portions of Nebraska and also into the Great Lakes region from northern lower Michigan into Ontario and southwest Quebec, Canada. Growers especially in the High and Moderate risk areas should monitor their crops closely and take appropriate action, if needed.
