Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm development and emergence will continue to increase at a more rapid pace especially in the western and southern corn-growing region as temperatures above to well above average levels persist through the period. The main focus areas for greatest development in the next five days remains from Nebraska and Kansas east into southwest Iowa, northern Missouri, and eventually central Illinois and southeast Iowa with a gradual development risk spreading north of I-80 by the weekend. High development risks are in place across southern Nebraska and northern Kansas east into west/northwest Missouri by the end of the week and into the weekend where persistent moth catch increases are ongoing at some trap locations and 50-75%+ heat unit emergence thresholds are met.
