Western Bean Cutworm
Western bean cutworm emergence continues to increase across portions of the corn-growing region as heat unit accumulations approach and surpass critical levels. With above to well-above average temperatures expected across much of the corn-growing region in the next week, emergence may occur at a faster rate and expand to additional growing areas rather quickly. High developmental risks are in place in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and portions of southwest Iowa with Moderate risks extending into much of Nebraska, Iowa, northern/central Illinois and into Indiana by next week. Low risks expand north into South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio by next week as well.
